ESCAPE FROM
PLANET DEATH!
A TMA FMS PODCAST
Our modest hope is that this simple podcast changes the course of human history. We want people asking the hard questions. What would you do if the earth melted and you launched for a distant planet but your robot wanted a parade and he attacked a bunch of botanists and stole the salamander specimens and your pilot was decomposing? What then? Oh and the distant planet is the planet of the dead – I forgot that part. And you’re thirsty. And giant bees.

ARTISTS
JERUSHA HESS, DIRECTOR

KYLE MOONEY
as NICK
Nick is an NK robot designed for tweens, ages 8 through 15. Analyn promised her grandmother to take the NK unit along on the voyage to planet Genesis. Nick comes equipped with a variety of audience reaction settings.
LOUIE ANDERSON
as ULYSSES
This massive X-12 command robot is an advanced AI model with attack capabilities. His protocols are: 1) Protect human life, 2) Preserve the colony. During the voyage to join the first group of settlers on planet Genesis, Ulysses’ protocols are reversed. Ulysses wants a parade.
WHITNEY CALL
as ANALYN MENDOZA
As the core of the earth continued to heat, a rescue effort known as The Genesis Project was initiated in the United States and managed by technology entrepreneur, Gus Jordan. Analyn’s PR firm was chosen by Gus Jordan to lead the publicity campaign for this controversial project.
JOE ESTEVEZ
as VICE PRESIDENT
MATEO CEBALLOS
As Vice President of the United States, Mateo Ceballos is the highest ranking and least capable member of the Friendship Delegation.

MALLORY EVERTON

Part of the original military crew sent to establish the first colony on the planet Genesis, Lieutenant Lena Jeffries is the wife of Private Jeffries. Though she mistakenly married Jeffries believing they would be the only couple capable of preserving the human race, Lena has grown to enjoy her husband. We’re not sure why. Or how.
JAKE ULASICH
as PRIVATE JEFFRIES
Also part of the original military colony, Jeffries is deeply in love with his wife, Lena. He’s also an idiot.
CRAIG CLYDE
as COLONEL HALL
Colonel Hall is the commanding officer in charge of the original military settlement. He, Lena, and Jeffries are the only original settlers to survive the temporal storms. Abandoning the original colony, they now live in a cave.

ABOUT TMA FMS PROJECTS

OUR
MYSTICAL PROCESS
So how is it done? What’s the secret behind our spectacular TMA FMS podcast? We start with twelve student writers and a gently confused instructor – all trapped in a small room. Initially, the ideas are sparse and uninspiring. But, gradually, something magical happens. The ideas become more vague, less feasible. Characters lose depth, storylines deteriorate into semi-related anecdotes. Three months of increasingly ineffective re-writes later, voila! Podcast scripts!

Next, we sprinkle in six student producers, a second instructor, two marathon production days, a few months of post-production, and voila again! Podcast complete!
TMA is the Department of Theatre and Media Arts at Brigham Young University. FMS means Faculty Mentored something. The S doesn’t stand for Something. I mean it does stand for something, but not Something. Maybe it’s Summer? Special? Stuff? Student. That's it.
Anyway, the University is very kind and supportive. Some remarkably talented professionals including Kyle Mooney, Louie Anderson, Joe Estevez and Jerusha Hess all pitch in (these are truly great human beings), the technical pros amaze us all, and the result is a great learning environment for all mankind.
We love everyone in the whole world, but especially the people who worked on this project.
